The Red Devils Set to Sign Germany Striker Lea Schüller away from Bayern Munich

The Women's Super League club are finalising sealing the deal for prolific Germany forward Lea Schüller on a permanent transfer from Bayern Munich.

Schüller, who has half a year remaining on her contract, is known as a prolific goalscorer for her club and the national team. She has netted over 100 goals for the German giants and scored 54 times in 82 appearances for her country. Her arrival is viewed as a marquee signing for the Women’s Super League team.

Her exit from Bayern was expected after she appeared to be holding back emotions while thanking the German club’s fans following a victory over Bayer Leverkusen this month.

Reports in December that the German women's top flight was losing one of its top strikers. According to multiple sources, the formalities for the move are now finalised.

Reliable Goalscoring to Strengthen United's Attack

The experienced striker's signing should represent a major boost to United’s forward line. She has been highly consistent in front of goal in Germany’s top flight.

• Over seven consecutive seasons, including the last term, she reached at least a double-digit tally of league goals.
• She claimed the top scorer award in the 2021-22 season with 16 goals.

Gathering Steam at Carrington

Securing the German international coincides with a period when the club appear to be gathering positive momentum.

Their recent performances feature qualifying for the European knockout phase playoffs as a seeded team and a win in the Conti Cup quarter-finals.

1. The acquisition of Sweden defender Hanna Lundkvist on a multi-year deal.
2. The contract extension for Japan midfielder Hinata Miyazawa, a fan favourite since arriving in 2023.

On the midfielder's new deal, a club official stated: “Miyazawa is now a vital component to the way we play. Her footballing intelligence and technical ability allows her and the team to dominate play from the middle of the park.”

Lundkvist, who has joined from a club in the American league, added: “You can feel how much they [United] have grown in the last few years, playing in one of the most competitive leagues in the world and now featuring in the Champions League.”
