The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it was expected for doubts to be raised about his position following a further heavy loss versus the Dutch champions.
The Reds endured their ninth defeat in 12 games, marking the team's poorest run since being demoted in 1953-54.
They were dominated by the Dutch league champions on a difficult evening at their home ground.
“I am feeling safe, I'm fine, I have got plenty of support from the top,” the coach commented.
“It would be nice to change things and secure a win naturally but if you are working as a coach and underperforming then it's typical that questions are asked.”
He continued, “I am OK with my situation. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a difficult position but it's necessary that we turned it around.”
Upon being questioned to elaborate on his dialogues with the club's leadership, the head coach said:
“We talk a lot. They assist to the team and for me and we have those conversations but they don't phone me constantly of the day to say they trust me.”
He further stated, “In the normal exchanges I sense the belief. However I haven’t spoken to them since this match so far so we'll see.”
The manager highlighted known weaknesses from his Liverpool side in their European loss, specifically poor finishing and conceding too easily.
Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more direct in his assessment of the current crisis.
“I haven't got the solutions. Frankly, I do not. I'm telling that to everyone,” the midfielder stated.
“It's simply unacceptable. I don't have to wait to reflect. I’m past being angry inside. I’m at the point now where I just don’t have the words.”
He added, “It's difficult because I play for the club I love. I support them, and I've watched this club since I was young.”
“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Reds side going through a period like this with performances so bad.”
He finished, “But we still have the crest on our chest. And until that badge is removed, we will always compete.”
“Our aim is to bring this squad return to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all once more what Liverpool stands for and the reason it's called the top club in the world.”
“But right now, we're in trouble and it needs to change.”
