NFL 2025 season: Week six
Live coverage features live text of the weekend matchups on various channels, beginning with Denver Broncos v New York Jets at Tottenham (from 14:00 BST). Also, radio commentary can be heard on designated networks covering a separate game (beginning at 9 PM BST).
It's week six of the football calendar , after recent talk about two top teams being possible championship contenders, each surrendered their perfect starts.
Striking during those contests were the number of infractions each committed. The Eagles did so in key moments so they essentially defeated themselves having led by two touchdowns going into the final quarter against the Denver Broncos, who play in London this weekend.
But it proved good to see that Denver's QB the rookie was able to overcome the shortfall and then direct three successful possessions on three possessions during the final period, to win the game 21-17.
Denver have the top defender in cornerback their star corner. They rank number one in red zone defence, while Philadelphia lead the league in red zone offence, yet the Broncos won that contest.
They had effective strategies regarding disguised blitzes. They did not necessarily rushing extra defenders instead they might plug two linebackers in the interior then withdrawing them and dispatch a nickel off the edge.
At the start of the season, it was noted during a show that the Broncos could be the current year's surprise contenders. They finished last season strongly then excelled in continuing that momentum.
Could Denver be this season's underdog story?
Recently acquired tight end their tight end has excelled big and new RB their rusher is a player the team trusts. He now ranks 5th league-wide for rushing yards (402) as well as tied-fourth in rushing scores (four).
It's impressive that head coach Sean Payton displays "RUN IT!" at the top on his call sheet.
That shows how Denver are a squad that wants to run first, because you can do a lot off the back of that. It slows opposing rushes while maintains in favourable down and distances.
This has helped QB the young passer, who entered the NFL as the 12th overall draft pick in the prior draft, throwing 29 touchdown passes – second only to Justin Herbert in rookie records (31 back in 2020).
Other elite QBs have the arm strength to throw all over, but they lack in the same way that Nix has. He boasts exceptional arm talent, a unique trait, plus he's highly agile.
His strengths are his mobility, the capacity to pass on the run, and using different arm angles to deliver the pass when he rolls outside protection, the bootlegs. He can throw precision throws over the middle and over the corner.
As a rookie QB, aged 25, he's got a lot of poise in the pocket and isn't really fazed by the blitz. He aims to evade being tackled as much as possible and can throw in tight spots. He possesses sharp intelligence and remains quick to decide.
If you constantly rush it eats up time and forces the defence to be in play for longer, and if you've got a mobile QB the defence must defend the area downfield and horizontally. It can be draining.
Nix has pushed back with the coach on the sideline sometimes and I think Payton appreciates that attitude, seeing him as a fierce rival. In my view it's exciting for him to have a rookie QB that is kind of like play-dough. He can truly build something up the way he desires to shape him. I think it's a unique opportunity for him.
The head coach owns a championship and now passed a legend for career NFL wins (173 - tied 14th overall). He's seen it all. I think the success the Broncos are having on offence is mostly down to his guidance, his play-calling, his game sense – and the pairing with the QB aids shape him what he is.
There's no better a better guy guiding you, to help you through difficult moments and boost self-belief.
I have faith in Denver's defence, in the QB's grit and calm. Yet is the team strong enough to face a top squad at its best? Because that was not a Super Bowl performance by the Eagles last Sunday.
Right now, it's unlikely the Broncos are incredible. They're performing better than most, which is a good place to be in their division. All they need is to continue this path.
They excel at embracing their forte, which is the ground game, and that's exactly what they must do versus the New York Jets in London. It will likely be a Dobbins-focused game, essentially.
The Jets have allowed 140 rushing yards per game (sixth worst), five ground scores so far (10th worst), and they are the only team without a win any game.
Since the NFL began tracking takeaways decades ago, the Jets are also the first team to go without any turnovers in five outings, this is kind of shocking considering that their new coach was previously defensive co-ordinator at the Detroit Lions.
The Chiefs' QB stated the Chiefs have 'already lost too many games' following a recent loss to Jacksonville.
Following this Sunday's game, Denver have a manageable slate until their bye (in week twelve) - the New York Giants, the Cowboys, Houston Texans and Las Vegas Raiders before the Kansas City Chiefs.
Looking at their division, Kansas City are 2-3 and the Broncos are even with the Chargers at 3-2 meaning they could make a run for the top of the West.
It depends upon which form of the Chiefs they meet because the Broncos {beat|def
