Canada's Blue Jays Claim World Series Matchup Versus defending champion Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

George Springer previously helped the Astros winning the World Series in 2017.

Toronto's Blue Jays earned a spot in their maiden championship series after 1993 by defeating the Seattle Mariners in the seventh game seven of the AL Championship Series.

Down by two runs, Springer smashed a three-run blast in the seventh, propelling the Toronto squad in Major League Baseball to a 4-3 triumph in the best-of-seven series. Awaiting them are the Dodgers, who are the current crown, in the upcoming Fall Classic.

"I'm thrilled for our team, Toronto, the nation," commented Springer, a key player of the Astros team that won the 2017 championship. "What an incredible feeling."

Springer has now hit 23 total October home runs, placing him third on the list trailing only Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Altuve (twenty-seven).

"I can't think of another player on planet Earth that I'd prefer in that spot other than him with his post-season brilliance," noted manager John Schneider.

Seattle, despite leading the series 2-0 and 3-2, continue to be the one club that has never reached in a Fall Classic.

Wilson said "certainly that it hurts" following his team's loss at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but applauded their work in the campaign.

"It's a special team. Sadly that we had to come out on the losing end of this one," he added.

Toronto's team claimed the title on both previous visits in the early 90s, and will host the Dodgers in the first game on the upcoming Friday.
