Alexander Isak Burglars Ordered to Pay Only £1 Each from £1.2 Million Heists

Individuals of an Italian clan of thieves who stole over £1.2 million worth of goods, among them from ex- NUFC forward Alexander Isak, have been mandated to pay back just £1 per person.

Brothers Valentino and Giacomo Nikolov, their female sibling Jela Jovanovic and her child Charlie Jovanovic journeyed to the north-east of the UK to raid multiple homes in spring 2024.

The foursome were jailed for from a decade or less in 2025.

At a criminal assets proceeding at Newcastle Crown Court, Jela and the brothers Nikolov were ordered to pay back £1 each while Charlie must pay £1,135.

Particulars of the Burglaries

The judge was told the group came by ferry in the UK on March 27, 2024 and used a campervan as their "headquarters", which they stationed at a service area and Durham service rest stops while using another car to search for properties and carry out thefts.

On March 31 they stole more than one million pounds of items including high-end fashion, handbags, jewellery and a honor from a house on Clayton Road in Jesmond, Newcastle, while the residents were away.

The following night, the gang broke into a house on a private road in Whitburn, and stole designer handbags, valuables and shoes valued at over one hundred thousand pounds.

Following surveillance of Newcastle United's facility for 48 hours, they then struck at the home of Sweden striker Alexander Isak in Darras Hall, Ponteland on 4 April, taking £10,000 in money, sixty-eight thousand pounds worth of jewelry and the player's one hundred twenty thousand pound luxury car.

The group, who were described by prosecutors as professional itinerant burglars, wore gloves and masks, switched their phones on silent as they approached their objectives and attached a license plate, which had been taken from a garage in Chester-le-Street, on to their car with rubber straps.

They were apprehended in the Birmingham on April 13.

Legal Hearings and Rulings

Valentino Nikolov had denied conspiracy to burglary but was found guilty by the court, while his family members had all entered admissions to the identical accusation.

At the proceeds of crime session, lawyer Daniel Cordey said each of the defendants had profited from their crimes to the amount of over £1.2 million, which was determined by what the affected parties said they had lost.

But Charlie was the only one deemed to have any funds that could be "realised", namely over a thousand pounds which had previously been confiscated by police, the court was informed, with two weeks to be spent in prison if he failed to pay.

The remaining members had no assets or assets so were ordered to make a nominal fee of £1 per person, with one week in prison the result if the sum was not paid.

Judge Robert Spragg said if they were found with assets in the future, "such as driving around in Italy in a sports car or possessing a home", prosecutors could initiate further action to "satisfy the amount outstanding".
